Tengchong County is one of the most fantastic scenic spots in the western part of Yunnan Province. Some of the county's major sites include the Volcano, the Hot Springs, Laifeng Park, Dieshui River, Longtai Mountain, the Tomb of the State Funeral, Heshun Overseas Chinese Country and Yunfeng Mountain.
Tengchong is also rich in mineral resources such as jade and other precious stones. Tengchong County is almost entirely surrounded by Volcanoes. The county is located at the base of Leifeng Mountain on lands built up by piles of ancient magma .
More than eighty steam springs, hot springs and heat springs have been found in Tengchong making it the second largest heat field in China.
Famous geothermal heat spots include Ruidian Heat Field, Shiqiang Hot Springs, Liuhuang Pool, Huanggua Spring and Zaotanghe Springs. Different geothermal heat sources produce different phenomena.
